Rif'at Browers: On Healing a Community

Rif'at Browers:
On Healing a Community

In December 2013, I was blessed to return to my motherland, South Africa. I was born in Cape Town, dubbed the "Mother City", which rests at the very tip of the African continent where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet. According to Bucketvision in 2016, it is officially named the “most beautiful city in the world". When I was a small child, my parents decided to move us to North America; and that’s where my younger sister and I grew up.

It had been 18 years since I last visited, and on my journey of discovery I met an extraordinary human being, his name: Rif’at Browers. His life’s calling: to heal a community. This is his story, about fighting the drug epidemic in the mixed –race, coloured community in Cape Town.
